The Forgotten Condorrat School Building

Cumbernauld News ran a piece about the old school house in Condorrat on 31 August 2017.

Education provision began in Condorrat in the 1830s with a public subscription which raised money to provide housing for a schoolmaster.



The Education Act of 1872 was passed, and a couple of years later a school board was running the village school where William Kerr was the teacher.

Things soon grew and the school pictured above opened in 1898 on the Main Road near Dalshannon. It had five teachers (including William Kerr who remained in post until 1913) and 200 pupils.
